STRUCTURAL BONDING

Durable seal even for the toughest applications

3M™ structural adhesives. Designed to offer strength, design innovation and ensure the assembly of multiple materials. Our structural adhesives give you the strength you need by enabling lightweight, high-performance designs and new manufacturing realities.

3M™ Scotch-Weld is a two-component acrylic product, specially formulated to bond numerous low-energy surface-based plastics, including polypropylene, polyethylene and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) of various qualities without any specific surface preparation.

Our structural plastic adhesive 3M™ Scotch-Weld is designed to handle adhesion problems without pretreatment generally associated with bonding plastics with low surface energy.

SUGGESTED APPLICATION

In the junction of metal plastics, for example in the manufacturing or repair applications of household appliances Bonding of plastics with low surface energy without using primer Bonding of shock resistant composites manufacturing or repair of various sports equipment Plastics with low surface energy such as polypropylene, polyethylene and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) with acrylic adhesion.

It can be applied in the automotive and rail transport sector and is a very semi-flexible compound.

ADVANTAGES

  • Improves aesthetics: invisible joints, replacement of rivets, welds and screws, to look for smoother joining lines
  • Lightening: eliminates the weight of mechanical fasteners, use thinner and lighter materials
  • Design freedom: glue more materials, smaller joints take up less space
  • Convenient: use thinner materials to reduce costs, eliminate post-finishing

  • Easy and precise: Dispense control with 3MTM EPXTM applicators for dosing and mixing
  • Stronger bonds: eliminates stress concentrations
  • The non-sag formulation ensures that the adhesive remains where applied
  • Resists many chemicals, water, moisture and corrosion
  • Provides a strong and permanent bond with a high resistance to peeling even in the presence of vibrations
